Can we “understand” bees by listening to them?
Could sounds act as emphatic bridges for interspecies communication?
These are some questions I explore in this paper: Droz, L. (Forthcoming Fall 2025) “Resonating with Bees’ Emotions: Sounds as Empathic Bridges For Interspecies Understanding”, Environmental Philosophy Preprint at philpapers.

This work is part on my ongoing research focus is ecological emotions (especially ecological grief and music).
Below is a tentative sketch of cycles of ecological emotions, based on the available literature, my ongoing research and my own experience. I develop this cycle in a collaborative work on cycles of ecological emotions, and their expressions in eco-documentaries: Droz, L., Baudet, J., 2024. “How Do Ecological Emotions Emerge? An analysis of contemporary Swiss eco-documentaries”, Journal Visual Arts, Special Issue: “The Emotions of Late Anthropocene in Visual Arts”. https://doi.org/10.1080/01973762.2024.2328415

Some of the references and details regarding the literature are available on my poster.
